Jaan was the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Estonian Social Enterprise Network (in 2012-2019), developing it into one of the strongest social entrepreneurship drivers in Northern Europe. He is a member of GECES, the European Commission's Expert Group on Social Entrepreneurship, and teaches the core course of the MA program of Social Entrepreneurship (in English) at Tallinn University. In 2013, Jaan was elected as a ´Mission Person of the Year´ by the Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations for his long-term commitment to promoting societal impact analysis. He has written the only impact analysis handbook for social purpose organizations in Estonia (2012) as well as co-authored an international handbook “Maximise Your Impact: A Guide for Social Entrepreneurs” (2017). By now, he has stood in front of thousands of people in Estonia as a public speaker, moderator and trainer. International engagements have included Armenia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, France, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova and Turkey.
